Here is our latest rescued chimp, Labé. She is about 2.5 years old and she arrived at the CCC on the 1st of July 2012. She was confiscated in Conakry by Charlotte Houpline, the director of GALF (Guinée – Applications de la Loi sur la Faune) in collaboration with the Guinean authorities. Labé comes from the town of Labé in the Fouta Djallon area. Labé was meant to be gifted to a big drug dealer. Fortunately the young guy who was taking care of her was treating her very well.
Labé is full of life and energy. She spent 6 weeks in quarantine and she is free of disease. She adapted very well to her new life at the CCC: she has discovered with great pleasure the forest, wild fruits and the joy of walks in the bush. She is very sociable, she loves playing, her appetite is huge!
Her quarantine is over and Labé was successfully integrated with Tango and Tya a week ago. Her new friends will teach her how to be a “real” chimp as she forgot many “normal” chimpanzee behaviours during her time in captivity. We therefore believe that she spent at least several months in captivity.
Help us to take care of Labé, by donating or sponsoring her.We need your support! Thank you for helping Labé and all the CCC’s residents.
