Torn from their families, often at a very young age, chimpanzees rescued from the illegal wildlife trade and poaching arrive each year at the CCC in an extremely fragile condition. For many years, the sanctuary’s teams support each chimpanzee through a long journey towards autonomy, with one goal: giving them a second chance back in the forest.
