Name a chimpanzee baby!

On behalf of Chimpanzee Conservation Center (CCC), Project Primate Inc. is happy to announce that we are auctioning the name of one of our baby chimpanzees*!  This beautiful little girl is the daughter of one of our chimpanzees, named Lottie, who was released back into the wild in 2008.  The CCC rehabilitates orphaned chimpanzees who are victims of the bushmeat or pet trade and strives to protect Guinea’s remaining wild chimpanzee populations through public education and government engagement.  The CCC…

Léonie, a year later

Léonie, a year later

A year ago, everybody was holding his breath. Léonie was having an operation for an intracranial abscess, which was causing serious physical mobility impairments and some pain since her arrival at the CCC in December 2011. This difficult operation was a complete success. Today Léonie is a young chimp full of joie de vivre, living happily in her group. We wanted to thank again all the persons who got together to give her a second chance.

What a chimps’ group!

Léonie and N’Dama’s « intense » training, for their integration in the nursery group, is still going on: they climb higher in the trees and they even walk by themselves on short distances!  – but the human team is never far. To be continued!

It was the achievement of 8 years of preparation, made of exploration for a release site, preparation of the chimps, fundraisings, preparation of the release site and the team, a journey into the unknown…

Help give a better protection to captive chimpanzees in the US!

Help give a better protection to captive chimpanzees in the US!

For all our friends in the United States: Please sign this petition asking the US government to stop the exploitation of captive chimpanzees today! We, at Project Primate Inc., support  the efforts led by The Humane Society (HSUS) and PASA to increase protection for captive chimpanzees in the US. Currently, captive chimpanzees in the US are exploited for entertainment, invasive experiments, and the exotic pet trade. Studies show that these uses of chimpanzees hurt efforts to conserve wild chimpanzees. A proposed rule…
